This time of the year our focus very much shifts to planning for 2018. Our enrolments continue to increase with four Prep classes enrolled and only 35 Year 6 students exiting.
This week marks the end of my 43 years of employment with the Victorian Education Department – 23 years as a principal. After a wonderful seven years at Oakleigh Primary School and Kindergarten I feel so privileged to have been able to finish this rewarding career at such a fabulous school.
What a delight it was to welcome over 300 community members to our Father’s Day breakfast last Friday morning. This is a significant event as I realise that with work and other commitments many parents and specifically fathers, do not have the opportunity to be involved in the life of the school during the normal school day.
Today begins the start of our School Review where a panel of independent reviewers come into the school to work alongside us to review our progress over the past four years against a range of criteria.
Later this month we will be involved in our school review. Our review draws on the expertise and experience of a range of professionals to support us to evaluate our performance practice and outcomes over the last four years, and to plan for improved student outcomes.
We are currently preparing for our review that will be carried out in the second half of August. Our congratulations are extended to Andrew James who has been appointed Acting Assistant Principal at Mt Waverley Nth PS for terms 3 and 4. Andrew will be replaced by Deb King, a very experienced teacher who has had a long relationship with our school.
