STOP PRESS: Campers arrived safely—weather’s clear!
This morning 70 excited students and 8 staff took off for a four day adventure at Forest Edge Camp in Neerim East in Gippsland. Oakleigh PS has for many years offered an extensive camping program giving the students an opportunity to experience 4 different camps in Years 3-6.
Father’s Day Breakfast
What a delight it was to welcome over 300 community members to our Father’s Day breakfast last Friday morning. This is a significant event as I realise that with work and other commitments many parents and specifically fathers, don’t have the opportunity to be involved in the life of the school during the normal school day.
An event such as this relies on a strong team of helpers to set up and assist with the running. I thank them sincerely – particularly Anna Quezada (mother of Isabella 1G) and Rebecca Neale (mother of Jacob 1G) for coordinating the event.
Father’s Day Breakfast – Friday, 4th September: 7.30 – 8.45am
The annual Father’s Day Breakfast is on this Friday, 4th September. Orders for food have now closed in order that food supplies can be ordered. Door prizes will be presented on the day.
Having the opportunity to meet and discuss educational issues with over 1200 educational leaders from around the globe provided me with insight that many of the issues we face in Victorian schools are actually international issues. Some of the more significant challenges are:
