EAL
(English as an Additional Language)

EAL at Oakleigh Primary School

Providing support and targeted programs for English as an Additional Language (EAL) students to enable all students to reach their full potential is important at Oakleigh Primary School where the diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds of all students are valued and celebrated.

OPS has a dedicated EAL program that provides intensive small group support to students learning English. There is liaison with classroom teachers so students specific language skills and needs are met in the classroom setting also.  Support is given in developing English language skills in speaking and listening, reading and writing and progress is monitored using the Victorian EAL Curriculum to ensure student needs are targeted.

Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow.
